With the recent business partnering between Dynamic Healthcare Technologies, Inc., and Sunquest Information Systems, Inc., users are in a position to provide input to the vendors regarding the merging of these technologies.

It is our desire to organize a focus group dedicated to the integration of anatomic and clinical pathology information in a manner which permits various forms of retrieval and review of results by the diverse client base that laboratories now serve, including the patients themselves.

In order to accomplish this, the following guidelines have been established:

• the ability to view non-native laboratory results within an application by implementing an HL7 compliant interface between vendors;
• the ability to access the information via the Internet, including appropriate security measures;
• the ability to easily access and format user-defined reports with a wide range of variables from both the anatomic and clinical domains;
• the ability to create a single, seamless report which can incorporate both anatomic and clinical pathology laboratory results with images, either as-needed or on-going.

The first proposed meeting of the Integrated Report Focus Group is planned in conjunction with the third annual Anatomic Pathology Informatics, Imaging and the Internet Conference (APIII ’98) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the evening of Wednesday, November 4^th.
