Welcome to the web based pathology teleconsultation services at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The system uses the World Wide Web to securely transmit images and text between UPMC Department of Pathology and practicing pathologists in Western Pennsylvania and around the world. It is designed to be flexible, ubiquitous and very user friendly.

To use the system one needs:

    1. Access to the World Wide Web.
    2. The ability to capture digital images and save them to your hard drive.

That is all. There is no special teleconsultation software to buy.

The current system supports asynchronous consultation through static images and text. A real time, dynamic capablity is planned in 1998. We will always be very interested in your comments, suggestions and possible collaborations.
